Aidan's Achievements:
Nelson Primary Schools' Interschool Swimming Sports

How long have you been swimming for?
Since I was 3 years old.
Why do you like swimming? It is good for your muscles.
How often do you practice?  Once a week for an hour.
How did you get involved in this activity? Mum and Dad sent me to swimming.
What do you like doing in your spare time? Playing rugby, riding my scooter, riding my motorbike, playing my guitar and spending time on the computer.

Helen's Achievements:
A Junior Swimmer Award.
1st in Special Olympics at Nelson 2012 and Blenheim 2011.

How long have you been swimming for? 2 years.
Why do you like swimming? I like swimming and meeting other people.
How often do you practice? Two times a week, sometimes more.
How did you get involved in this activity? Mr Patterson said to try and I did.
What do you like doing in your spare time? Gym, volleyball and lots of swimming.

Joshua's Achievements:
1st in the 10 year old boys' relay at the Interschool Swimming Sports

How long have you been swimming for? I have only been swimming at school and training for one season.
Why do you like swimming? Because all my friends do it and they train once a fortnight.
How often do you practice? Only at school, I had to come 4th or better to be part of the relay team.
How did you get involved in this activity? I got involved in this activity because my Mum said I had to do lessons for 3 seasons with the Pattisons.
What do you like doing in your spare time? The other activities I like doing in my spare time are: hockey, cricket, soccer, volleyball, athletics, miniball and going to school.

Sam's Achievements:
Going to the National swimming championships for freestyle and the relay.  1st 10 year old boy three length freestyle at the Nelson Interschool Swimming Sports.

How long have you been swimming for? I started competitive swimming a year ago.
Why do you like swimming? I like competing and meeting new friends.
How often do you practice? When I was training for Nationals I did a swim camp and we swam 44 km in 4 and a half days.
How did you get involved in this activity? I started swimming at 4 or 5.
What do you like doing in your spare time? Football, table tennis, volleyball, cricket, reading and eating.

 

 

Burty's Achievements
1st place in the 10 year olds green fleet sailing Nationals. 
1st 10 year old boys' backstroke and breatstroke at our Senior School Swimming Sports.
1st 10 year old boys' backstroke and breatstroke at the Nelson Interschool Swimming Sports.

How long have you been swimming and sailing for for? I have been swimming since I was 6 months old and sailing since I was 5.
Why do you like these activities? I like sailing because there are lots of friends doing it and it is fun competing against other kids.  I like swimming because it is fun and I enjoy racing my friends.
How often do you practice? I swim train 3 times a week for an hour and a half and sail once a week for training and race on Thursdays.
How did you get involved in these activities? Mum took me to Riverside and I used to play in the little pool and later on Mum taught me how to swim properly. Dad taught me how to sail at Kaiteriteri and now I am a good sailor.
What do you like doing in your spare time? I like mountain biking, running, soccer, windsurfing and trampolining.
