Welcome back to Term 2. We have had a great start with lots happening. Winter sports are under-way with all senior classes having a rotation on Tuesday afternoons to experience some of the different skills involved in different sports. The children are also busy training for our cross country by running a course around the school twice a week. We have had some great results during the Saturday cross country league. Well done to all children involved. We have our Year 5 classes heading off to camp next week. Thanks to all the parents who are helping with transport and attending camp. Let’s hope the weather holds! Along with all our other subjects we are delving into a unit on Kiwiana. This is an inquiry unit that gets the children thinking and asking questions…and then there’s the production!

Here are some reminders for you:

• Swimming is every day at this time of year. All children are expected to have their swimming gear at school every day. If your child is not able to swim for some reason, a note is required.
• School sunhats are to be worn every day. Wide brimmed school sunhats can be purchased from the office.
• It is a good idea to check that all clothing items are named so that they can be returned to their owners if they are mislaid. This is particularly important as a number of children often forget items of clothing when they go swimming.
• School stationery: Please ensure you start the year with all the appropriate stationery.
• Remember that children should not be at school before 8:15 in the morning and should be collected by 3:15 in the afternoon.
