Syndicate News!

After three busy terms, here we are on the home straight with the 2011 finish line in sight.  Batteries have been recharged and the children are no doubt ready to charge full steam toward the end of the year.  As you will know this is an extremely short term (8 weeks!!) so keep your eye on upcoming dates and deadlines as it will be Xmas before we know it.

Congratulations

If you are anything like me you are probably still walking around in a state of euphoria after the fantastic (and long overdue) win by the All Blacks at the RWC.  In the middle syndicate last term we were able to fully engage in this historical event for New Zealand.  Highlights included our visit to Trafalgar Park, watching the re-enactment game and having a visit from Sergio Parisse the Italian captain.  The children then took part in planning, organising and running a whole school event to celebrate what they had learnt.  A terrific success!!

Good Vibrationz!

Our topic for this term will focus around music with the children learning about writing, playing, and performing music.  They will play simple instruments (recorder and ukulele) and make some of their own.  If you have any used bottles, containers, pottles etc. that you would usually throw away or recycle, send them along to school to be transformed into sweet sounding instruments of beauty!  Later in the term the syndicate will gather together and children will perform using these to an audience of their peers.  This will coincide with the syndicate disco.  The date for this is yet to be confirmed.

 Reminders

  • Please check that your child has ALL the stationery they need.  Books are getting used up and it is amazing how quickly children use (lose) pencils.
  • Term 4 means it is time to dust off the wide brim hat and start getting sun smart again.  Please ensure your child’s hat is clearly named.
  • Swimming (brrrr…) will be starting in the next few weeks so keep your ear out for that start date.  Again please name all togs and towels carefully.
  • Keep checking class blogs and websites to see what is happening in the classes

REMEMBER…

Please contact your child’s class teacher if you have any concerns at all regarding your child. (Teachers are not available after school on Mondays and Wednesdays due to staff meetings).
