Junior Syndicate News

What a fabulous start to the term we have had in the Junior Syndicate!  All the classes are working so hard in all areas and the children are really enjoying the unit on Kiwiana. The children are learning to think about the topic in more depth and come up with their own questions to answer.

Please make sure the children’s reading books that they bring home each night make their way back to school.  And also their library books that they issue each week as well.

We have our Junior Syndicate cross country coming up in a few weeks on Thursday 24th May.  The children are practising their long distance running skills.

As always, if you have any queries or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact your child’s classroom teacher.  Their door is always open!

As parents you may like to become involved in the school community in one of the following ways:

  • Parent helper in your child’s classroom.
  • Returning resources & mending books.
  • Making maths & reading games at home.
  • A member on the Hampden Street School Fundraising Committee. (friendly short meetings once a month)
  • Te Kakano, our school Kapa Haka group, is also looking for parents who are keen to help with their sessions.  The Junior sessions are on Tuesdays from 1:30-2:15pm.

If you are interested in any of the above please see Catherine Barris in Room 7, or your child’s classroom teacher.

Reminders

  • Please ensure that your child’s clothing is clearly named.  We regularly have piles of unclaimed clothes and shoes left at school. Please find Lost Property at the end of Room 6.
  • If you have any concerns about your child please make an appointment to see his/her teacher first. If you have further concerns please make an appointment to see Catherine Barris, Deputy Principal or Jody Drummond, Senior Teacher, who are both responsible for the Junior classes.
  • Our school library is wonderful resource and we encourage the children to issue library books.  They will be reminded to return their books each week, as they do with their readers and homework.  Please support us by encouraging your child to issue a book of interest each week.
